About Café Cliché Amsterdam
Café Cliché was launched by Middelburg childhood friends Marco Doeleman and chef Sidney Schutte who, while on holiday, dreamed one day of opening a cosy restaurant: no-nonsense, just quality, that was the idea.
In 2018, their dream came true when they opened their first restaurant in Amsterdam, followed in 2022 by a second eatery in Middelburg, where both guys were born.

At a Café Cliché, the chef and his team serve favourite dishes. Our chef cooks the same way he does at home. Good, tasty and not too complicated. Quality without the fuss. No dress code, only great flavours and attentive service. You can drop in after work, if you want a fun break during the weekend or, of course, to celebrate a special occasion.
We love to cook, as you can see and taste, but we also enjoy eating delicious food. Whether you’re a carnivore or a vegetarian, a fish lover or a salad connoisseur, we have something for everyone. An evening at Cliché begins on the terrace or at the bar where we welcome you with a tasty snack and a drink. Next, we like to surprise you with our menu.
From Hong Kong to Zeeland and from Maastricht to Amsterdam. We find inspiration from all over the globe. A chef’s mind is always open to new impressions. He makes a mental note of every ingredient he uses, every flavour he samples and every market he visits. And you taste that in funky combinations and tried-and-true classics.

Spinach, green bean and chard. Inspired by seasonal and global influences. It’s all about amazing food and a friendly welcome. Perhaps a little cliché, but that’s what we like.
